Rachel Imsland is an artist based in Madison, Wisconsin. Her ceramic forms often draw on wabi-sabi principles, emphasizing the beauty of imperfection, asymmetry, and the quiet elegance of the handmade. Whether in her vessel work or sculptural series, Rachel’s practice is grounded in simplicity, restraint, and the emotional resonance of form and surface.
Her glazes draw from the colors of the natural world, and are layered to suggest landscapes, water, stone, and sky. These surfaces build depth and gentle movement, inviting touch and encouraging a slower, more contemplative way of looking.
She holds a BA in Art with an emphasis in painting from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and has exhibited her ceramic work in group exhibitions throughout Wisconsin. Rachel is a juried member of the Madison Area Potters Guild and served on the Guild’s board from 2023–2025. Her work is available on this website, at Milward Farrell Fine Art in Madison, WI and at the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau, WI.
