With a surface that evokes weathered minerals and soft sediment, Crystalline Hollow explores the quiet relationship between material and space. Pale, crystalline glazes drift across a soft, matte olive form, collecting at edges like a memory of water. The sculpted opening holds both light and absence — an intentional void shaped as much by what’s missing as by what remains.
As with much of my sculptural work, Crystalline Hollow is a meditation on presence and absence, form and void. What is removed becomes as meaningful as what remains. The interior space — shaped, yet unfilled — invites contemplation, holding a space for stillness, breath, or memory.
Part of my ongoing sculptural Absence and Presence series, these pieces invite stillness and contemplation, asking the viewer to consider the space within as integral to the form itself. These vessels are shaped as much by what is missing as by what remains. Each form holds space — for breath, for memory, for what cannot be seen. The voids are intentional: an expression of the unseen forces that shape us.
Dimensions: 9 inches high x 9.5 wide x 6.5 deep
Mid-fire clay with matte glaze that has subtle sheen and textural depth
Signed and one-of-a-kind
