Inner Passage reflects the quiet dialogue between form and emptiness. Hand-built with a soft, rounded silhouette, the ceramics sculpture is shaped around a slender, elongated opening that acts as both a threshold and a pause—a place where light gathers and a sense of listening presence emerges through what is not there.
Shifting gently between pale greens, warm ochres, and softened whites, the surface echos the weathered textures of time-worn stone or fading memory. Subtle variations in the glaze create a sense of depth and stillness, inviting a pause for looking. The footed bottom lifts the vessel off the surface and helps define the form.
Part of my ongoing sculptural Throughspace series, these pieces explore the relationship between solid form and moving space. Each sculpture contains a passage that extends through the body of the piece, allowing light, air, breath, and gaze to pass through. The sculpture holds its shape, and space is given a place to move within and beyond.
