Split Horizon | Hand-Built Ceramic Sculpture with Curved Crevice

$400.00

A vessel of contrasts—rounded yet split, grounded yet open. Split Horizon invites contemplation through its striking vertical cleft, where form yields to void. The sculptural cut speaks to dualities: presence and absence, solidity and openness.

Its surface is a quiet interplay of charcoal black, greenish bronze, and pale celadon, softly textured and shifting. The interruption at the center draws the eye inward—a space that both divides and connects—suggesting a horizon, a portal, or a pause.

There is a small, unobtrusive crack along the inner curve, visible only on close inspection. It does not affect the structure of the piece, and in the spirit of wabi-sabi, it quietly echoes the themes of imperfection and fragility inherent in the work.

This is a deeply meditative object, equally at home on a pedestal, shelf, or in a personal altar space. A sculpture that invites stillness.

Part of my ongoing sculptural Absence and Presence series, these pieces invite stillness and contemplation, asking the viewer to consider the space within as integral to the form itself. These vessels are shaped as much by what is missing as by what remains. Each form holds space — for breath, for memory, for what cannot be seen. The voids are intentional: an expression of the unseen forces that shape us.

Dimensions: 10.25 inches high x 8.25 wide x 6 deep

Mid-fire clay with charcoal black finish and green glaze variations

Signed and one-of-a-kind
